WELCOME
TO THE WEST ENGLEWOOD UNITED ORGANIZATION SITE
Welcome to the West
Englewood United Organization (W.E.U.O.) website.
W.E.U.O. is
a non-for-profit organization that has been instrumental
in caring and sharing with
hundreds of women and children since it was founded
in 1983 by Mrs. Clara Kirk.
W.E.U.O. was established primarily to try and deal
with the many problems facing
the people of Chicago's West Englewood and Englewood
communities. W.E.U.O.'s
mission is to improve the quality of life for family
and community residence

Our mission is to improve the quality
of life for families
and community
residents without regard torace,
religion, or origin. We design
our programs to meet basic needs for
employment, housing, health care
and education through training
and projects directed at advocacy, social
services, empowerment, and self-awareness.
Our goal was to seek necessary assistance to provide a local community emergency
center. With complete knowledge
and a everyday view of the homeless situation,
we suffered many discouragements
in our effort to open Clara's
House.

The West Englewood United Organization
was established in 1983 from a collaboration
of neighborhood block clubs. Our
joint effort was initiated by our
mutual concern and regard for the
Englewood and West Englewood communities
and to abate the fast growing deterioration
of the communities. Becasue this
matter was heart bound, and unjust
neglect by our local politicians,
four block clubs combined to establish
West Englewood United Organization.
As with any fast growing business,
the West Englewood United Organization
is always in acceptance of individuals
with the tenacity to structure,
implement and promote positive
living.

FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
The
previous year was very trying,
with the homeless community doubling,
jobs being lost by the hundreds. The
housing market is out of reach. Mothers
are being cut off Public Aid benefits
because of the five-year cut off plan.
Corporations and foundations are changing
their guidelines for what they would
fund.. Read
