Clara's SECOND STAGE HOUSING




Currently the West Englewood United Organization has opened a second-stage facility, Clara's Second Stage Housing. Clara's Second Stage Housing is a thirteen apartment facility completely furnished including a stove and a refrigerator. Each new tenant receives a housing gift package and a schedule of programs and activities.

Prospective tenants must meet our eligibility requirement consisting of a pattern of success from a former or current shelter and a desire for semi-independent living. At Clara's Second Stage Housing, we provide a continual car program to assist our tenants with necessary fundamentals for preparation into society.

Programs and activities include but not limited to job readiness and placement; planned parenthood; budget; G.E.D.; nutrition; domestic violence; social services; health care; affordable housing; homework assistance; and client outreach services.

Clara's Second Stage Housing was established to decrease the shelters turnover ration, however, with the homeless status increasing daily, it has been nearly impossible to service new clients due to consistent return of former clients.
